I. Love. My. Job.

So, we are doing a fruit fly lab in Biology AP. Currently the students are using ether (prounounced EEE-thur) to temporarily render their flies unconscious and count the virgin offspring. Two of my students wrote this song:

“Etherizer”
to the tune of “Womanizer” by Britney Spears
Written by Juliet Slutzker and Hannah Myers

Drosophila
Where you from? Are you a virgin?
Too bad for you, you might die in just a second.
When I put you in a chamber, you’ll be killed by a stranger
I know how you’ll die, how you’ll die VIRGIN!

Etherizer, Ether-Etherizer
Death by Etherizer oh
Etherizer oh Etherize the virgins, baby.

You you you’ll die, you you you’ll die
Etherizer Etherizer Etherizer ETHERIZER.

Fly don’t try to front I-I know just-just how you’ll di-i-ie (x2)

You think you’re livin’
I’m not forgivin’
So come on virgin
Etherizer

Pointy butt
Lookin’ for a hook up
Curly wings and other traits that we’ll look up
If you’re not a juicy one,
Then you can’t be a choosey one
I know how you’ll die, how you’ll die VIRGIN!

Etherizer, Ether-Etherizer
Death by Etherizer oh
Etherizer oh Etherize the virgins, baby.

You you you’ll die, you you you’ll die
Etherizer Etherizer Etherizer ETHERIZER.

Fly don’t try to front I-I know just-just how you’ll di-i-ie (x2)

You think you’re livin’
I’m not forgivin’
So come on virgin
Etherizer

Maybe if we both lived in a different world (Etherizer, etherizer etherizer)
You would live and have your boys and your girls
But you can’t ‘cause I’ll kill youuu.
